A portrait of a mother—this is a new collection I am beginning in the art world. Traditionally, only a chosen few are deemed significant enough by worldly standards to have their portraits painted—those who breathe history. But who decides their worth?
This collection tells a different story: the story of mothers.
I spend much of my time engaging with mothers—their love, their passion for life and for their children, and the hopelessness and helplessness they feel when they don’t know what to do or how to engage with their children who have special needs.
This space is created to honor these bold, courageous, and beautiful women.
This is Maria. She is a daughter of King Jesus. She has lived a lifetime—she is a mother and a grandmother. She is filled with passion and a desire to live life honorably, nobly, and rooted in peace. She loves people, desires to walk in truth, and is willing to step into hard things even when others would walk away. Maria is a Daughter of God, Wife, Mom of 7, Ordained Minister, and Puerto Rican, from Ponce./Hija de Dios, esposa, madre de 7, ministra ordenada y puertorriqueña de Ponce.
There is so much beauty in Maria—her kindness, her compassion, and her fierce love not only for life itself, but for her children, her grandchildren, and, most importantly, Jesus.
