He had Compassion

On hearing this: He slipped away privately by boat to be alone. But when the crowds discovered where He had gone, they emerged from the nearby towns and followed Him on foot. So when Jesus landed, He had a huge crowd waiting for Him. Seeing so many people, His heart was deeply moved with compassion toward them, so He healed all the sick who were in the crowd. Matthew 14:13-14

Honestly, what’s so profound about this is that Jesus had just been told that His cousin, and I’m sure friend and childhood playmate, had just had his life taken. But Jesus stepped away to be alone, to be with the Father. Even in the midst of His sorrow, He had compassion on His people. This is a beautiful model of how to love unconditionally while maintaining boundaries. Jesus withdrew when He needed time with the Father, yet when He encountered the needs of those around Him, His heart remained full of compassion to meet His people where they were at.
